Somatic Movement Immersion: Exploring the Cycles We Move Through

$30.00

Wednesday, November 4, 6-7:45pm

As we move deeper into fall and begin preparing for winter, we will explore the cycles we move through within our own bodies.

Exploring what contracts and what expands, what pulls us inward and what wants to be expressed, and how our bodies communicate our yeses and our nos.

Through somatic movement practices woven into dance and free-form movement, you’ll be verbally guided through an experience that gives your body space to speak.

Rather than trying to figure out where we are or what something means, we'll move with what is actually there… what is being held and what is ready to move.

We'll explore our inwardness and our own individual movement, but we'll also move with one another; exploring what it feels like to witness and be witnessed through our changes, cycles, and expression.

We’ll create space to let go of moving the “right” way and surrender to our own unique flow. What comes up in the body? Where do we naturally expand? Where do we contract? What happens at our edges? What changes when someone else is there to witness us?

The intention isn't to push ourselves into another phase or decide what needs to be released. It's to experience ourselves inside the cycle we're already in, listen to what our bodies are communicating, and let movement give us information.

We start each class with an opening circle to share our names and intentions, and we’ll end with a circle to close the container and allow space for any reflections.

Genevieve DeMarco is a Certified Integrative Somatic Practitioner and founder of Embodied Evolutions. For the past five years, she has been immersed in the world of somatics, conscious movement, and experiential facilitation throughout New York, and is now bringing her work to Vermont. Her work weaves together somatic practice, conscious dance, intuitive art, women’s circles, and creative expression.
